Texas A&M’s running back depth is a bigger concern heading into Saturday’s game at LSU. Jamarion Morrow was downgraded from questionable to doubtful on the SEC’s Friday availability report, making him unlikely to play in Baton Rouge. Wide receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman remains questionable, while Terry Bussey is listed as out.
Morrow also missed last week’s loss to Kentucky. Freshman KJ Edwards got an opportunity in his absence but left that game with an injury. Edwards is not listed on Friday’s report, an encouraging sign for an A&M offense still trying to get its running game going. His availability would give the Aggies another option behind Rueben Owens II if Morrow cannot play.
The receiver situation is less settled. Bethel-Roman missed the Kentucky
game, and his status may not be clear until closer to kickoff. Bussey’s absence is definite as Mike Elko said earlier this week that the receiver and returner will miss the rest of the season after suffering an injury on the opening kickoff against the Wildcats. Mario Craver took on a larger role in that game, catching 11 passes for 119 yards, but A&M could use another healthy option alongside him.
LSU will also be without three players listed as out Friday. Tight end Trey’Dez Green, safety Dashawn Spears and wide receiver Phillip Wright III. Cornerback Ja’Keem Jackson is questionable.
The change to watch on A&M’s side is Morrow’s move to doubtful. Bethel-Roman and Jackson remain game-day questions. The SEC’s final availability report should provide the next update before the 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff.
