The San Francisco 49ers got good news Wednesday in their final practice before boarding their flight to Australia for their season opener vs. the Los Angeles Rams.
According to NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco, defensive end Nick Bosa, tight end George Kittle, wide receiver Mike Evans and fullback Kyle Juszczyk were all back on the practice field after nursing various injuries.
For Bosa it's his first practice since he was shut down early in camp with knee tendinitis. The 49ers have played it slow with their star DE since then and the fact he's practicing Wednesday and then boarding the team's flight to Australia is a good sign for his availability in the season opener.
Kittle has been back in practice since the couple of days leading up to the 49ers'
preseason finale. He's still on his way back from an Achilles tear in January and all signs continue toward him playing against the Rams.
Injuries defined the preseason for Evans who dealt with quad and groin issues, but his return to the field Wednesday is a good indicator that he's tracking toward being ready for Week 1.
A broken finger early in camp took Juszczyk out for an extended period. It appears he's also on track for a return.
It wasn't all good news for the 49ers, though. Per ESPN's Nick Wagoner there were six players not participating in the portion of practice open to media, including a trio of rookie defensive linemen:
- CB Renardo Green
- WR Jacob Cowing
- LB Luke Gifford
- DT Gracen Halton
- DE Romello Height
- DT James Thompson Jr.
The 49ers won't have to submit a practice participation report until their first regular season practice. Those three sessions in the days leading up to their Sept. 10 opener in Melbourne will provide a lot more information on just how healthy San Francisco will be for their divisional showdown with LA.
