With the NFL trade deadline less than two weeks away, teams have been active over the last few days, including the San Francisco 49ers, who acquired DeForest Buckner from the Indianapolis Colts for a 2027 fourth-round pick.
San Francisco may have already added to their defensive front, but many speculated that they might bring in more veterans. However, one of the biggest pieces that was being connected to the 49ers is off the block, as the Tennessee Titans have traded Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears (per NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport).
Simmons, 29, was a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft after earning All-SEC honors twice in three years at Mississippi State. In his eight seasons with the Titans, he's earned four Pro Bowls
and has made three All-Pro teams. He's also recorded 414 tackles, 96 quarterback hits, 46.5 sacks, 31 passes defensed, nine forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries.
Adding Simmons to San Francisco's defensive line would've been massive, but for the asking price of two first-round picks and a fourth-round pick, the 49ers passed and the Bears added an incredible player to their defense.
