The San Francisco 49ers dodged a bullet, but they could still be without a vital offensive weapon for some time. Initial tests reveal that fullback Kyle Juszczyk hyperextended his knee during Sunday’s 24-14 victory over the Denver Broncos, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, and he is expected to miss a couple of weeks. An MRI scheduled for Monday will confirm the severity.
The injury occurred in the fourth quarter when Brock Purdy hit Juszczyk for a 16-yard gain.Broncos cornerback Jahdae Barron low-tackled the fullback, causing his knee to buckle. Trainers immediately assisted the 10-time Pro Bowler off the field, and he was quickly ruled out.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan expressed cautious optimismafter the game, noting that early evaluations point
toward a sprain with his ACL appearing intact.
"Juice, we don't know for sure," Shanahan told reporters. "They’re thinking it was probably a knee sprain. His ACL and stuff looked intact."
Juszczyk has hauled in four receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown through four games.
