The San Francisco 49ers will enter a Week 5 matchup vs. the Seattle Seahawks in what has been unfamiliar territory for them this season − they're the underdogs.
After three consecutive weeks of entering games as favorites vs. the Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos, San Francisco will roll into Seattle as three-point underdogs vs. the 3-1 Seahawks.
Here's what the opening lines look like from BetMGM:
- Point spread: Seahawks -3 (-105), 49ers +3 (-112)
- Moneyline: Seahawks (-155), 49ers (+130)
- Total: Over 47 (-110), Under 47 (-108)
It's not a surprise the 49ers are road 'dogs in Seattle. Not only is Seattle a very good team, they boat raced the 49ers in their last two meetings at the end of last season. The Seahawks won those games by a combined score of 54-9.
This season has been a little bit of a different story. Seattle snuck past the New England Patriots on the strength
of three fourth-quarter interceptions in Week 1. They smoked the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2, then lost to the Washington Commanders in Week 3 and held on to beat the winless Los Angeles Chargers at home in Week 4.
Seattle doesn't look like the buzzsaw they looked like at the end of last season, and the 49ers continue finding ways to win to start 2026.
The 49ers will probably say the way their regular season and postseason ended against Seattle won't play much into their Week 5 matchup, but if San Francisco can exorcise that demon and move to 5-0 with a win, it would firmly place them atop the NFC hierarchy.
