The Seattle Seahawks are adding some quarterback depth ahead of their Week 9 matchup, signing former San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets quarterback Adrian Martinez to their practice squad, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Martinez worked out for the Baltimore Ravens earlier this week before landing in Seattle. His addition comes at a time when the Seahawks are dealing with injuries at quarterback. Sam Darnold is out for Week 9, leaving Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe as the team's two healthy options at the position.
Martinez gives Seattle another arm in the building as it navigates Darnold's absence. However, the 26-year-old quarterback has primarily been a preseason player throughout his NFL career and has limited regular-season experience.
Across four seasons with the Detroit Lions, Jets and 49ers, Martinez has completed 100 of 184 passes for 1,044 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions. His only regular-season appearance came in 2025, when he recorded a kneel-down and did not attempt a pass.
Martinez entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2024 after playing college football at Nebraska and Kansas State. He spent time with Detroit before joining the Jets and eventually landing with San Francisco.
The 49ers don't play the Seahawks until Nov. 29 in Week 12 after winning at Seattle in Week 5.
