The San Francisco 49ers are dealing with several injuries in their wide receiver room, which has led to the team reportedly signing old friend Dante Pettis, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Pettis, 30, was San Francisco's second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft after he spent four seasons at Washington, where he set the FBS record for punt-return touchdowns (nine) and earned All-Pac-12 and All-American honors.
With San Francisco, he caught just 38 passes for 576 yards and seven touchdowns in 28 games over three years. In the time since, he's caught 54 passes for 655 yards and six touchdowns in 38 games between the New Orleans Saints, New York Giants and Chicago Bears.
With the 49ers missing Ricky Pearsall, De'Zhaun Stribling, Christian
Kirk, Demarcus Robinson and possibly Mike Evans, they need someone who can come in and play right away. Pettis can probably do that, considering he spent multiple years in this system.
