The San Francisco 49ers, like the other 31 teams around the league, have to cut their rosters down to 53 players before Sunday's deadline at 3:00 p.m. ET.
Among the moves that San Francisco made on Sunday afternoon was the release of offensive lineman Robert Jones, which NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported.
Jones, 27, played at Highland Community College and Middle Tennessee before the Miami Dolphins signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2021. After four years in Miami, he signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys for 2025, but he suffered a neck injury that ended his season before it began.
The 49ers signed Jones to compete for the starting left guard spot, but he didn't separate himself enough to win the job, especially after he suffered
a calf injury.
