The San Francisco 49ers traveled to Melbourne, Australia, for their Week 1 matchup against their divisional rivals, the Los Angeles Rams, and Kyle Shanahan's team escaped the Melbourne Cricket Ground with a 27-7 victory.
While spirits were high after the win, San Francisco lost one of their best wide receivers and their top draft pick to an injury, as trainers carted De'Zhaun Stribling back to the locker room in the second quarter.
After the game, Shanahan provided an update on Stribling.
"They checked his Achilles. They said that was intact," Shanahan said. "But they're not exactly sure of the magnitude of the ankle injury. They're not sure."
That's huge news, considering how the injury looked when Stribling left the field. However, there's still
a chance that he misses time depending on how bad the ankle injury is. They'll likely do more tests when they get back.
