What is the story about?

The San Francisco 49ers have been ravaged by injuries again early in their 2026 campaign, but they've been able to overcome these losses to start with a 3-0 record and to claim sole possession of the top spot in the NFC West.

However, if the injuries continue, the 49ers may need to look to add some veterans to their roster to help them win games and maintain their lead in the division.

This week Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox put together a list of potential trade candidates and suitors across the league, and he has San Francisco as suitors for three veterans. Let's take a look at who they are.

WR Quentin Johnston

Johnston, 25, played at TCU from 2020-22, earning All-Big 12 honors twice. The Chargers took him in the first round (No. 21 overall) of the 2023 NFL

Draft. In 49 games over four years, he's caught 150 passes for 1,941 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Knox predicted that the 49ers could get him for a conditional 2027 fifth-round pick.

WR Jerry Jeudy

Jeudy, 27, was a two-time All-American and national champion during his three years at Alabama from 2017-19. The Denver Broncos took him in the first round (No. 15 overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. They traded him to the Cleveland Browns in 2024 and spent the last three seasons there. In 94 games over seven years, he caught 353 passes for 4,910 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Knox believes his value his a conditonal 2027 fifth-round pick.

LB Khalil Mack

Mack, 35, played at Buffalo from 2009-13, earning All-MAC honors three times and All-American honors once. The Oakland Raiders take him in the first round (No. 5 overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent four years with the Raiders, four more with the Chicago Bears and five with the Los Angeles Chargers.

In 13 years, he's appeared in 182 games and recorded 670 tackles, 200 quarterback hits, 115 sacks, 43 passes defensed, 36 forced fumbles, 13 fumbles recovered and three interceptions. He's also made nine Pro Bowls, earned All-Pro honors four times and won Defensive Player of the Year once.

Knox put Mack's trade value as a conditional fourth-round pick.
