The San Francisco 49ers are already thin in the middle of their defense with Alfred Collins and Mykel Williams on injured reserve, and they had another player go down on Sunday.
In the third quarter of their Week 2 matchup with the Miami Dolphins at Levi's Stadium, 49ers defensive lineman James Thompson Jr. suffered an ankle injury. He walked off the field slowly under his own power and went back to the locker room with a trainer.
The team announced that he's questionable to return, and if he doesn't, San Francisco will be left with Osa Odighizuwa, C.J. West and Gracen Halton in the middle of their defensive front for the rest of the game.
