While the San Francisco 49ers will have their hands full in their Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia, on Thursday night, they're also catching a huge break for the divisional showdown.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald won't travel to Australia for the game and will be inactive.
Donald recently announced his return to the NFL after two years out of the game. He was still dominant when he was last on the field.
In his career, he recorded 543 tackles, 260 quarterback hits, 111 sacks, 24 forced fumbles, 21 passes defensed and seven fumble recoveries. He also made 10 Pro Bowls, eight All-Pro teams, won Defensive Player of the Year three times, won Defensive Rookie of the Year once
and won a Super Bowl.
San Francisco now won't have to worry about one of the best defensive players in NFL history, who probably would've wreaked havoc against the 49ers' interior offensive line, which still doesn't have a set starter at left guard.
Still, the line will have plenty to worry about with Myles Garrett, Braden Fiske, Kobie Turner and Byron Young.
