San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York has found himself in legal trouble this week, as the 46-year-old was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio, on Sunday morning.
According to court records, per USA TODAY
, York was originally arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution. However, the charges were later amended to a pair of misdemeanor charges, including disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools.After the news broke, the NFL released a statement on the incident.
"We are aware of the matter which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy," a league spokesperson said.
The 49ers were quick to follow with a statement of their own: "As this is a legal matter, which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time.”
While York was sentenced to one day in jail for each count, with credit for a day served, and also ordered to pay $1,150 in fines, there may be more penalties coming from the league in the near future.
