The Baltimore Ravens are scrambling for quarterback help, and they've been looking at a familiar name for San Francisco 49ers fans.
According to The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec
, the Ravens worked out free-agent quarterback Adrian Martinez on Tuesday morning, in addition to bringing in Kedon Slovis from the Packers' practice squad. Martinez, the 2024 UFL MVP, was on the 49ers' practice squad for the past two seasons.Baltimore's search stems from a brutal Week 8. Lamar Jackson injured his thumb in the loss to the Bills and went on injured reserve after thumb surgery. Backup Tyler Huntley was later hurt and did not return, which left undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano as the only healthy quarterback. The Ravens fell 36-10 and dropped to 4-4. Fagnano, who
played most of the game, is now dealing with an ankle injury. The Ravens have also brought Austin Reed back to the organization.
Martinez is mostly a preseason player. Across four seasons with the Lions, Jets and 49ers, he's 100-of-184 for 1,044 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions. He's played in one NFL regular-season game in 2025, where he only recorded a kneel-down.
Baltimore could also aim higher with 49ers quarterbacks, though. NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that "there's a scenario they could be in the trade market for a QB this week." A top name could be 49ers backup Mac Jones. The 49ers passed on offseason offers for Jones, and reports indicate they'd want at least a second-round pick. The trade deadline is Nov. 10.
