The San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday officially placed tight end Jake Tonges on IR as part of a handful of roster moves.
Tonges suffered a knee injury in the 49ers' Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't sound optimistic about the injury in his press conference after the game. It's unclear whether Tonges will return in the 2026 season.
The 49ers on Tuesday promoted TE Brayden Willis to the active roster. He'll take Tonges' spot as the No. 3 TE behind George Kittle and Luke Farrell.
San Francisco on Wednesday also promoted WR KhaDarel Hodge to their active roster. The special teams ace was one of their practice squad elevations for Week 1. They have room in their receiving corps with rookie WR De'Zhaun Stribling eventually
headed to IR.
TE Jack Stoll was also officially added to the practice squad to give the club more internal depth at the position.
