The San Francisco 49ers are getting really thin at wide receiver right now. After having Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk, De'Zhaun Stribling and Demarcus Robinson all land on injured reserve, they lost Deebo Samuel to a hamstring injury in the third quarter on Sunday.
Things got worse at the position later in the quarter, as wide receiver/returner Jacob Cowing suffered an ankle injury on a kickoff return. The team announced that he's questionable to return to the game.
If he can't go, that will leave the 49ers with just three healthy wide receivers in Mike Evans, Jordan Watkins and Brandin Cooks. That's a tough ask against arguably the best defense in football for over a quarter.
UPDATE: Cowing returned to the game in the fourth quarter.
