The San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday officially released their first practice participation report of the regular season. It came with lots of good news on the injury front for a 49ers club that has spent most of its preseason dealing with injury issues.
Only one player on the 53-man roster was listed as a non-participant on Tuesday's practice report. Nine players were listed as limited while one player was on the participation report as a full go.
The 49ers will have to issue two more practice reports before Thursday night's game, so there are couple of days for players to begin trending the right way. For now to start the week the long list of even limited participants is a good sign for San Francisco.
Here's the full practice report:
Did not participate
- DT James Thompson Jr. (Hamstring)
This isn't
a great sign for the surprising undrafted rookie. Hamstrings are difficult injuries to work through and the 49ers have just enough depth that they'll be ok if Thompson is unable to suit up Thursday night.
Limited participation
- DE Nick Bosa (Knee)
- DT Alfred Collins (Knee)
- LB Luke Gifford (Hamstring)
- CB Renardo Green (Hamstring)
- LB Dre Greenlaw (Achilles)
- DT Gracen Halton (Ankle)
- DE Romello Height (Ankle)
- FB Kyle Juszczyk (Finger)
- TE George Kittle (Achilles)
Ideally players like Kittle and Bosa would be full participants by this point. It isn't a surprise, however, that they were limited in the first practice of the week. Given the team's dedication to having that duo ready for the season opener it wouldn't make much sense if they tried pushing them into action ahead of schedule with two days to go until kickoff. They may both be limited again on Wednesday's practice report.
Full participation
- CB Upton Stout (Achilles)
Good news here for San Francisco since their backup option at nickel CB is Deommodore Lenoir who is their best outside CB.
