San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has moved ahead of Josh Allen as the betting favorite to win the NFL MVP award after leading his team to a perfect 5-0 start.
Purdy is listed at +275 to win MVP, while Allen sits at +300, according to BetMGM. Purdy strengthened his case Sunday by leading the 49ers to a 32-29 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, keeping San Francisco among the NFL's three remaining undefeated teams.
Allen still has a chance to reclaim the top spot Monday night when the Buffalo Bills face the Los Angeles Rams. Buffalo enters that game with a 3-1 record, and Allen's odds and season statistics could change following the matchup.
Here's a look at the latest MVP odds and how Purdy and Allen compare through their games played
so far.
- Brock Purdy, 49ers: +275
- Josh Allen, Bills: +300
- Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs: +600
- Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars: +900
- Lamar Jackson, Ravens: +1100
- Joe Burrow, Bengals: +1200
Purdy has thrown for 1,196 yards, 13 touchdowns and two interceptions through five games, completing 69% of his passes while adding 128 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. Allen has recorded 1,039 passing yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions through four games, completing 66.4% of his passes while adding 118 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.
Purdy has the advantage in passing production, with seven more passing touchdowns and one fewer interception despite playing one additional game. Allen, however, has been far more productive as a runner, with seven rushing touchdowns already.
Purdy's combination of passing efficiency, production and an undefeated team record has put him in position to win his first MVP award. He'll have to keep delivering as the 49ers attempt to maintain their perfect start, especially with Allen and the other contenders still having opportunities to make their cases.
