The San Francisco 49ers put forth a concerted effort to upgrade their wide receiver room this offseason because it lacked talent last year, and they were set to lose Jauan Jennings, who eventually signed with the Minnesota Vikings.
With that knowledge, San Francisco brought in Mike Evans, Christian Kirk and Deebo Samuel in free agency and took De'Zhaun Stribling in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft. However, Kirk has landed on injured reserve, and Ricky Pearsall is out for the season, so the team could look to add more at the position.
Interestingly, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox recently predicted that the 49ers will send a conditional 2027 fifth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills for Keon Coleman.
Coleman played collegiately at Michigan
State from 2021-22 and at Florida State in 2023, earning All-Conference honors twice. In 34 games between the two schools, he caught 115 passes for 1,506 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Buffalo took Coleman in the second round (No. 33 overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft, and through two years, Buffalo has been disappointed by the results. The 26-year-old has caught 67 passes for 960 yards and eight touchdowns in 26 games so far.
With San Francisco needing more young talent to build around for the future, they could take a flyer on Coleman and see how he does in Kyle Shanahan's system. If he succeeds, they can ink him to a long-term deal before his rookie contract runs out after the 2027 season.
