The San Francisco 49ers are, once again, battling significant injury issues, which kept over 20 players from participating from Wednesday's training camp session, including a few offensive linemen.
On Thursday, with these injuries in mind, the 49ers announced that they've signed offensive lineman Kion Smith to their 90-man roster. A corresponding move has yet to be revealed.
Smith played collegiately at Fayetteville State from 2016-19. His final season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to him going undrafted in 2021. After a brief stint with the Atlanta Falcons, he spent the last five years with the Miami Dolphins.
The 27-year-old has participated in just 23 games in his career and has started two. The good thing for San Francisco
is that he has the versatility to play either guard or tackle.
