The NFL finally handed down its ruling on San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York following his arrest in Ohio over the summer.
York was suspended for six regular-season games and fined $500,000 for violating the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy, the NFL announced today per multiple reports. According to The Ringer's Tom Pelissero, York can return to the team on Tuesday, Oct. 20, as the NFL deemed the three games York's already been away from the team as time served toward the six-game suspension.

York accepted the terms of the NFL's ruling in a statement, via ESPN's Adam Schefter:
Today, the NFL concluded its review, and I accept its decision in full. To my family, to the players, coaches, and employees of the San Francisco 49ers, to our fans and partners, I am deeply sorry. This was an inexcusable mistake and I take full responsibility. What I did does not reflect my values or the man I strive to be for my family. While I fell short of the model I want to set for my sons, I now hope to show them the importance of owning up to one’s failures, and that even our worst moments teach us to be better. Leading the 49ers is a privilege, and one I don’t take lightly. Your trust will have to be earned back over time, and I look forward to that work ahead.
York was originally arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution in August. The charges were amended to two misdemeanors. York ultimately pleaded no contest. He had been away from the team since then, including NFL league meetings.
This ruling finally puts to bed the saga of York's tumultuous offseason and gives clarity on his status with the league and the team. There were rumors York could sell the team following this incident, but that speculation was quickly quelled by insiders over the summer.
