The San Francisco 49ers are looking for help on both sides of the ball. Former Jaguars and Utah State wide receiver Brady Boyd and veteran defensive back Sam Webb are working out for the team today, according to KPRC's Aaron Wilson, citing a league source.
The tryouts follow injuries at two positions. At receiver, Ricky Pearsall is out for the season after knee surgery, and De'Zhaun Stribling and Demarcus Robinson have also been sidelined. Mike Evans is also dealing with a rib injury, and Christian Kirk is still on injured reserve. San Francisco signed veteran Brandin Cooks to the practice squad last week to play alongside Jordan Watkins and Jacob Cowing if Evans isn't healthy for Week 4.
In the secondary, cornerbacks Deommodore Lenoir and Renardo
Green both left their most recent game with concussions but returned, and neither is expected to enter the protocol.
Boyd, 24, went undrafted in 2026 and signed with Jacksonville, which waived him Aug. 30. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder is coming off a breakout year at Utah State, catching 46 passes for 743 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games. He had 21 catches combined over his previous stops at Minnesota and Texas Tech.
Webb, 28, played at Missouri Western State and has spent time with the Raiders, Panthers and Browns. He appeared in all 17 games for Las Vegas in 2022, starting three, with 36 tackles and three pass breakups. Last season in Cleveland, he played seven games with two starts and returned a fumble recovery 47 yards for a touchdown.
