Dre Greenlaw's emotional Week 4 cost him some money.
The San Francisco 49ers linebacker was fined $11,941 for taunting the Denver Broncos' bench during the Week 4 win, according to KBRC2's Aaron Wilson. Greenlaw didn't seem to mind much. He commented on an Instagram post announcing the fine, writing, "Damn fr? Lmao."
The penalty stemmed from when Greenlaw was seen jawing at Broncos head coach Sean Payton during the game and did so again after the final whistle. Greenlaw later explained to the San Francisco Chronicle that he felt Payton disrespected him during his lone season in Denver in 2025.
"I told him to get the [expletive] off the field," Greenlaw said. "That's it."
Greenlaw said Payton stopped acknowledging him after he got hurt, and that
his agent, not Payton, told him the Broncos were cutting him. Greenlaw signed a three-year, $31.5 million deal in March 2025 but missed the first six games with a torn quadriceps and the final two with a hamstring strain. Denver released him in March after he logged 43 tackles in eight games.
The extra motivation showed up on the field. Greenlaw led the 49ers with 12 tackles, his highest total since Dec. 25, 2023, and forced a fumble.
