The San Francisco 49ers continued their streak of not giving up a sack to four games after taking down the Denver Broncos in Week 4, 24-14. Only four other teams have started a season that way since at least 1963: the 2005 Colts, 1989 Dolphins, 1984 Dolphins and 1975 Cardinals, per the Associated Press.
It's a testament to the offensive line that's stayed healthy this year of Trent Williams at left tackle, Connor Colby at left guard, Jake Brendel at center, Dominick Puni at right guard, and Colton McKivitz at right tackle. Even in the face of defenses like the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos.
The previous teams on the list had mixed, but relatively successful, results. The 2005 Colts went 14-2 and earned the AFC's top seed before losing to the Steelers
in the divisional round. The 1984 Dolphins also went 14-2 and reached Super Bowl XIX, where they lost to the 49ers. The 1975 Cardinals went 11-3, won the NFC East and lost at the Rams in the divisional round. The 1989 Dolphins finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs.
Thanks to the great play of his offensive line, quarterback Brock Purdy had another strong performance as he pushes for the MVP. He completed 19 of 30 passes for 218 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions and a 107.4 passer rating in Week 4.
The lack of sacks is nice, but the 49ers are likely even happier about the 4-0 start to the 2026 season.
