The San Francisco 49ers are reuniting with a former draft pick on the defensive line.
According to an announcement from the team, defensive end Robert Beal Jr. is joining the 49ers' practice squad after being waived by the Miami Dolphins on Friday.
Beal was a fifth-round pick of the 49ers in the 2023 draft and he never quite found his footing with the club despite getting a handful of opportunities. The University of Georgia product played in 25 games across three seasons in San Francisco. He logged 1.0 sacks to go along with 36 tackles and one tackle for loss.
The Dolphins signed Beal this offseason as a free agent. He played in two games for Miami and notched one tackle.
For the 49ers Beal adds more internal defensive end depth. He joins Viliami
Fehoko Jr. and Ogbo Okoronkwo as available practice squad DEs. They're now at the maximum 17 players on their practice squad roster after re-signing wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge on Monday.
