The San Francisco 49ers on Saturday officially activated wide receiver Demarcus Robinson from IR in time for the veteran wide receiver to suit up against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
In a corresponding move the 49ers placed WR Christian Kirk on IR after the receiver suffered a meniscus injury in practice leading up to Week 9. It's unclear whether Kirk will return this season, although the 49ers are rapidly running out of IR return designations so his season could be over by default depending on how other IR returns shake out.
This will mark Kirk's second IR stint of the year. He started the season there after suffering a calf injury in training camp. He was out until Week 7 when he returned vs. the Atlanta Falcons and didn't earn a target.
Now he's on IR again where he'll be out at least four weeks.
Robinson also had his 'questionable' designation lifted. He's been out since suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 2 vs. the Miami Dolphins. His return gives quarterback Brock Purdy a reliable veteran WR in a receiving corps full of unproven options with Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel both ruled out.
With so many injuries at wide receiver, the 49ers also elevated recently-signed WR KhaDarel Hodge to their roster from the practice squad. It's a standard elevation so he'll revert back to the practice squad after Sunday's game. He appeared in three games for the 49ers before his release. San Francisco re-signed him after their Week 8 bye. Hodge has one catch for 18 yards in 2026.
