Christian McCaffrey is about to line up against family. The San Francisco 49ers running back will face his brother, Washington Commanders wide receiver Luke McCaffrey, for the first time when San Francisco hosts Washington on Monday Night Football.
“This is the first time I’ve been able to play against him, so it’ll be really cool just to share the field with your brother,” Christian McCaffrey told reporters this week. “You know, obviously, there’s nostalgia there going back to Little League and, you know, high school. He’s the only brother I’ve never gotten to play with or against, so I think this completes the cycle of sharing the field with him. I know it’s different uniforms, but proud of him and everything he’s done and excited.”
McCaffrey,
30, played at Stanford and has powered the 49ers’ 5-0 start. Through five games, he has 61 carries for 286 yards and five rushing touchdowns, plus 19 catches for 137 yards.
Luke McCaffrey, 25, played at Rice before Washington drafted him in the third round in 2024. He has appeared in two games this season without an offensive touch, though he has returned five kickoffs for 131 yards, a 26.2-yard average. Through last season, he had 29 career receptions for 371 yards and three touchdowns.
