The San Francisco 49ers have officially touched down in Australia, a week ahead of their Week 1 battle with the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, and while Kyle Shanahan's team is expected to get some players back from injury, they'll be without one edge rusher.
On Friday, the 49ers announced that defensive end Sam Okuayinonu, who didn't travel with the team to Australia, has been ruled out for the season opener due to a foot injury.
With Romello Height also dealing with an injury, San Francisco could be really thin on the edge next week, as Nick Bosa and Keion White would be their only healthy defensive ends, and while Bosa expects to play, he's still been dealing with soreness in his knee.
The 49ers will likely have to call in some reinforcements
from their practice squad and have both Ogbo Okoronkwo and VJ Anthony up to try and get after Matthew Stafford.
