You've talked in the past about having to sacrifice your touches on this team. What specific area do you hope to improve despite potentially fewer touches? Tyrese Maxey: I think the biggest thing that I hope to improve on is just staying consistent, staying in the flow of the game. And then my playmaking as well, creating for others. I've been trying to do that more and more as the seasons have gone by, but now I can do that at an even higher level, I feel like. And then driving to the paint, these guys all pose a threat, they all cause tension just like me, so it should be very fun

Tyrese Maxey: "I didn't know at first if it was possible or not. I remember, I don't know if he was a free agent two years ago or last year, and we work
out in the morning. So I texted him, I said, 'Man, get me LeBron there. I'm about to mess with him real quick,' just on some funny stuff. I hit him, I said, 'Yo, you are always welcome to come to Philly if you want to,' before he resigned back with the Lakers. We knew he was going back to the Lakers, but I'm just messing with him." — 8/13/2026 YouTube
NBA Courtside: Tyrese Maxey breaks down the recruiting of LeBron: “Did I call? For sure like I didn’t know at first if it was possible or not. I don’t know if he was a free agent two years ago or last year and so we work out in the morning, so I was like give LeBron’s number I’m about to mess with him real quick just like on some funny stuff. I hit him, like “Yo you always welcome to come to Philly if you want to, you know what I’m saying? Before he resigned back with the Lakers I knew he was going back to the Lakers but I’m just messing with him.” And then this time, RP is like, “I don’t know what he’s going to do, he doesn’t know what he’s going to do so, man. Holla at him if what you’re thinking.” So I hit him and was like, “Yo you know like pull up, like I think we got a good chance I feel like you can help us you arguably the greatest of all-time so it’s like why wouldn’t we want you on our team.” You know what I mean? Just gave him a rundown on that and I probably talked to him at least three or four times.” (Via @notbpod) — 8/11/2026 x.com
NBA Courtside: Tyrese Maxey on having to sacrifice with LeBron and Jaylen Brown: “At the end of the day I want to win, you know what I mean? And I have played with a lot of different people and a lot of different groups. So at the end of the day I am going to have to change some of the things but because of the dynamic of our team and like we don’t expect the process to play 70 games. But to play 70 games that’s how you balances out.” (Via @notbpod) — 8/11/2026 x.com
Earvin Magic Johnson: Wow! Basketball fans all over the world should give NBA Commissioner Adam Silver a standing ovation for scheduling the New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers game on NBA Opening Night????It was already going to be a special night because the Knicks are receiving their championship rings - but now LeBron James, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey all will be playing. Must see TV! — 8/11/2026 x.com
The Philadelphia 76ers are already getting accustomed to the new players on the team, as they still have some time before they hit the court together. Jaylen Brown has been active in Philadelphia over the past few days after having his introductory press conference and going out to the Eagles’ training camp. The next thing that Brown decided to do was hit the golf course with Tyrese Maxey and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Surprisingly, LeBron James was nowhere to be found, especially since he’s been working on his golf game over the past few years. — 8/7/2026 Clutch Points
Who has that role won't be so clear-cut in Philadelphia, at least to start. It puts a lot of pressure on 76ers head coach Nick Nurse to earn the trust of the two new headliners, and then for them to cultivate it with the incumbent players. "What's their belief when s--- gets tough? What sets are they running?" the coach said. "Who's the leader? Does Jaylen Brown become the vocal leader? Is it Bron? What about Maxey, is he one of the guys? There's the dynamic stuff that's more important than the physical stuff." Another assistant coach believes that will be worked out, perhaps sooner than expected. "They all know they're going to have to sacrifice," he said."The respect for each other's individual games is already established, and the crown will be passed around and understood." — 8/6/2026 ESPN
Mike Vorkunov: Jaylen Brown: "It doesn't have to be anybody's team." The 76ers will have Brown, LeBron James, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey next season, but he is coming at it by prioritizing openness and working together. Brown: "It has to be based in respect and work. and that's kind of like my approach. I want to earn everybody respect and trust, which take time. You know what I mean? Obviously, it's a lot of guys with talent, some egos. But to win, you got to be able to sacrifice. You got to be able to, you know, have trust and communication. So I want to come in transparent. I want to come in with my agenda on the table." — 8/6/2026 x.com
NBA Courtside: Jaylen Brown on who was first to reach out to him when he got traded: “Who was the first one? I’m not even sure when I found out when I first got traded, I just threw my phone across the room. Who was first? It might have been Max I think Maxey reached out to me first. He reached out and said I know it’s a lot of stuff going on right now but we excited to have you stuff like that. Maxey and V.J was probably around the same time. We talk everyday we got group chats, multiple now and we all trying to figure this thing out. LeBron is active in the group chat so we just all trying to get on the same page.” — 8/6/2026 x.com
"Any given night, anyone can be the guy," Gansey said. "So I think sacrifice will be big for us. But Joel is arguably the best and most talented big I've ever been around. ... He's going to be a huge piece to our success. We have LeBron and Jaylen, but Joel's going to be as important as those guys. "LeBron's had a lot of usage his whole career, but last year [with] the Lakers with Luka [Doncic] out, he was the guy. Jaylen last year with [Jayson] Tatum out, he was the guy. VJ and Tyrese did a lot outside of when Joel plays or doesn't play. So everyone's been used to that for their career, but I think getting them all together, in camp, in practice, they're all going to benefit from each other." — 8/6/2026 ESPN
The 2016-17 Warriors might be the greatest team of all time, but Kevin Durant believes the 2026-27 76ers are as good on paper. Durant implied that's what he thought during a USA Basketball event on Sunday, and he doubled down on Monday when replying to a fan on Instagram who said the two teams "ain't close.""Ain’t close lmao," Durant replied. "Joel, mvp recently. Jaylen brown, recent finals mvp, Tyrese Maxey, all star the last 3 years. We all know what bron does. Klay Thompson, never a mvp candidate in nothing, 22ppg. Draymond, 14ppg 7 rebounds 6 assist, Steph a mvp just like Joel was. I don’t get how the warriors team is better on paper." — 8/4/2026 Sports Illustrated
