It was a big week for the Kentucky volleyball team, who went 2-0 with wins over UCLA and Penn State, both of which are quality teams. The Nittany Lions, in fact, were ranked in the top 15.
The excellent week of play from the Wildcat caught the attention of the SEC media. On Monday, it was announced that Kentucky
players took home several honors, including the Player of the Week award, won by Molly Tuozzo.Tuozzo doesn't get the flashy kills, or the blocks that excite the crowd, but she's the heart of the team. In the two matches, she had an incredible 35 digs, which is a lot of erased points on defense. For that, she was also named the Defensive Player of the Week in the SEC. It's her first Player of the Week award.
Kentucky pulled in a couple
of other awards as well. Brooklyn DeLeye had 21 kills against Penn State, and had a hit percentage over .300. She was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week.
Meanwhile, after a somewhat slow start, Kassie O'Brien had a big week as well. She had more than 40 assists is both matches, and was instrumental in DeLeye's success. She was named the Setter of the Week.
