It was a big Saturday for the Kentucky football team, as they opened the Will Stein era with a 45-13 victory over Youngstown State. It was an impressive start to the season. However, voters for the US LBM Coaches Poll weren't impressed enough to vote for them this week.
The Wildcats did not receive any votes this week, though that's not surprising. They'll need to prove their mettle against top competition to get them in range of the top 25. Beating the Alabama Crimson Tide next week would likely qualify.
As for the rest of the SEC, they did very well. The Georgia Bulldogs and Texas Longhorns lead the way in the rankings, coming in at No. 2 and 3 respectively. The LSU Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, and Oklahoma Sooners all came in inside the top ten.
Ten of the SEC teams are ranked this week, with LSU making the biggest jump, gaining five spots. Three more teams received votes in the poll.
