The 2026-27 Kentucky basketball season is finally set to begin, with the 23rd ranked Wildcats taking on the Manhattan Jaspers tonight. Coach Mark Pope's third season at the helm is a big one for him, and Big Blue Nation, who are desperate for a deep playoff run after several disappointing years.
The Cats have plenty of talent on the roster, led by forward Milan Momcilovic and Malachi Moreno. Kentucky's length should be an advantage this season, with multiple seven-footers available in the rotation. It should be one of Pope's better teams defensively.
Finding the right combination at guard will be key for the Wildcats. Mason Williams is a freshman, but was Kentucky's most consistent guard in exhibition play. Zoom Diallo and Alex Wilkins will be the starters,
but expect Williams to play a lot. Getting Kam Williams back soon will add another shooter and defender to the perimeter.
