Kentucky basketball coach Mark Pope is once again in the race for some of the top recruits in the 2027 recruiting class. One of the best available is power forward C.J. Rosser, and on Thursday, he announced his final seven schools, and the Wildcats made the cut.
On3's Joe Tipton posted the list on X. Kentucky is joined by some familiar names on the list, including North Carolina, Louisville, Arkansas, Miami, North Carolina State, and Southern California.
Rosser is a 6'10", 200 lb power forward out of North Carolina who plays for Southeastern Prep in Florida. He is currently rated five stars by 247Sports, and ranks as their No. 2 overall player in the class. Some services have him as the No. 1 overall player.
A long and lean forward, Rosser has
loads of potential. He can score inside and out, and is a tremendous athlete who is still adding muscle to his frame. He averaged over 16 points per game at the FIBA U17 World Cup. He is also a good shot blocker, using his 7'3" wingspan effectively on that end of the floor. As he gains experience, and becomes more selective with his shot, he will only get better.
Next up for Rosser is his visit schedule. He is set to visit all seven of his finalists this fall, including Kentucky on Oct. 1. Pope has worked hard to establish a relationship with Rosser, even visiting for a fishing trip earlier this year.
There's no timetable for a decision from Rosser yet, but it would likely come after he has taken all of his scheduled visits. He will be a great addition for someone, and combining him with elite forward Ryan Hampton would give Pope and Kentucky their best recruiting class since he was hired. This is one for fans to keep an eye on.
