Before we flip the page to previewing the LSU Tigers, we will take one more look at players that stood out for Kentucky football in the 17-point comeback victory over South Carolina
. Kentucky stormed back and capped off the largest comeback road win in program history. Will Stein got his offense rolling in Columbia and the team feeds off his confidence. Here are the players that created an impact offensively on Saturday.Kenny Minchey
Kenny Minchey was once again unbelievable in the second half of an SEC road game. Minchey has shown that he needs a drive or two to get in rhythm, but it is dangerous when he does. Minchey is incredibly poised in large moments, which was shown on the touchdown and two-point conversion to win the game in overtime. He side stepped
a rusher as he stepped up in the pocket to deliver to a wide open Henry Boyer, and on the two-point conversion he called CJ Baxter over to pick up the edge rusher--high level stuff from Minchey.
Kenny Darby
Kenny Darby is just an extremely special player, true freshman wide receivers are not supposed to look this good this early. Darby earned 18 targets on Saturday, which is unheard of, and he hauled in 12 receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown. Not to mention, he should've added another 40+ yard reception because he caught that football that was overturned. Darby is on a fast track to shatter the freshman receiving records for Kentucky football.
Willie Rodriguez
Willie Rodriguez has been a massive focal point of this offense, but we had not seen him make plays down the field. That changed on Saturday, as he made some tough catches on crossing routes over the middle. Of course, he hauled in the game winning two-point conversion as he was wide open in the back of the end zone. Rodriguez is an absolute handful for defenses.
Nic Anderson
We have to give flowers to Nic Anderson, he has had a tough injury history and has been blocking his tail off all season. The receiving numbers have not been there, but he has stayed patient and it paid off in Columbia. Anderson had arguably the biggest play of the game, converting that fourth down on a crossing route that could have decided the game. He then had to long touchdown on the deep post on a coverage bust from South Carolina where Kenny Minchey put it in his bread basket for Anderson's first touchdown as a Wildcat.
