The first two seasons with the Kentucky basketball team haven't gone as well as coach Mark Pope would have liked. There are many reasons for the disappointment, but injuries have certainly played a big part.
This offseason has already seen its fair share of injury issues for the Wildcats, and with the start of the season on the horizon, Trent Noah can be added to the list. Kentucky Sports Radio's Jack Pilgrim (subscription required) reported this week that Noah re-injured the hamstring he had earlier in the offseason.
The timing of the injury is unfortunate for Noah. Big Blue Madness is just a few weeks away, and the start of their exhibition play is just after that. It's likely that the injury will linger into those games, but he could be healthy
for the start of the regular season.
Noah isn't going to be a regular starter this season, but he is a valuable player off the bench. His experience in the program is key, and his hustle and effort are unmatched.
So far, Kentucky has avoided any new major injuries, instead dealing with minor ones and recovery from previous injuries. Hopefully, this will be the last one, and Pope can finally have a full roster through the season. He needs, and deserves it.
