Since Will Stein took over the head coaching job with the Kentucky football team, he has changed the way the Wildcats recruit. He has already landed a number of four-star recruits, and is making Lexington a destination for the country's best players. Now, Stein is taking another step, and is trying to flip an elite recruit from their biggest rival, Louisville.
Ja'Hyde Brown is a 5'10", 186 lb wide receiver out of Louisville, Kentucky. He is currently rated four stars by 247Sports and ranks as their No. 195 overall player in the 2027 class. In March, he committed to the Cardinals, but that hasn't stopped other teams from staying in touch.
Since his commitment, Brown's stock has risen even higher. Some services have him as a top 100 player, and
it has led to a number of teams setting up visits, including Kentucky.
On3's Steve Wiltfong is reporting that Brown will take a visit to Lexington this weekend. That comes after a visit to the Florida Gators. He is also set to visit the Texas Longhorns in a few weeks.
Flipping Brown to Kentucky might be a long shot. For his part, Brown still says he's committed to Louisville. However, nothing is final until it's final. Stein has Kentucky sitting at 4-1, and are playing an exciting brand of football. It could be attractive to a player like Brown.
Brown is putting up record numbers this season, and continues to climb the rankings. As he does, more and more teams line up to try and flip his commitment. Stein will make his pitch this weekend, and it is certainly a long shot. With Stein, though, nothing is impossible. We will continue to update this story as it develops.
