There were plenty of difference makes for the Kentucky football team on Saturday. After a slow start, the offense came alive, moving the ball more easily, and guys making big plays in key moments. On defense, they played LaNorris Sellers as well as can be expected, and forced a couple of huge turnovers on their way to a 35-34 victory over the Gamecocks.
Plenty of credit deserves to go around, but two players in particular were honored by the SEC this week. Offensive lineman Lance Heard was named the SEC Offensive lineman of the week, and receiver Kenny Darby was named SEC co-Freshman of the week.
Heard, the left tackle, played another clean game where he made few mistakes. He held up as a pass blocker, and dominated in the run game, including
a highlight reel play where he pancaked two defenders. That play has gained national attention.
Kentucky LT Lance Heard played at a high level in the win over South Carolina. Controlled in pass pro. Meanest run blocker in CFB.

As for Darby, he continues to shine On Saturday, he caught 12 passes for nearly 100 yards, and had one taken away from him on a questionable overturn by officials. He also scored another touchdown. He has been incredible in his freshman season.
