Will Stein and company being able to get wide receiver Kenny Darby to Lexington was a huge win for the program. He committed to the LSU Tigers in early 2025 and then decommitted from the program later that year. Just days after, he committed to Stein's Kentucky Wildcats, and he's been an integral part of the offense this season.
Stein was also able to bring in Notre Dame transfer quarterback Kenny Minchey to lead the charge, and Minchey has done a terrific job of captaining the offense. Minchey has found a safety net in Darby, who has erupted as the team's most-targeted receiver. Darby has 22 receptions for 322 yards and 3 touchdowns on the season. He erupted against the South Carolina Gamecocks, in a crucial road victory for the Cats to keep
them with just one loss on the season. Darby finished with 12 receptions for 96 yards and a touchdown.
When asked about the level of trust that the team has in him, here's how he responded. "It makes me feel proud of myself. When I came in, I worked hard for this. Excited," Darby said. His postgame interview can be seen below.

Darby was, by far, the Cats highest-rated recruit, coming in as the 205th-best player nationally and the ninth-best player from the state of Louisiana. At 6-foot, Darby has the size and speed to be a mtchup nightmare for opponents.
The Cats are going to get a difficult challenge this coming week, facing the Tigers, who Darby opted to decommit from. There will undoubtedly be some extra pep in his step, especially with the Cats having opened as a near double-digit underdog. Kickoff in Lexington is set for 7 p.m. ET from Kroger Field. It'll be televised on ESPN as well.
