The Kentucky football team has been one of the biggest surprises of this season so far. After jumping out to 7-1 record, the Wildcats found themselves ranked in the top ten. On Saturday, however, a blowout loss to Tennessee put a dent in their College Football Playoff hopes, and dropped them in this week's US LBM Coaches Poll.
Kentucky dropped from No. 7 last week, to No. 13 this week, a drop of six spots. that puts them fifth among teams from the SEC, but firmly still in the playoff discussion if they can win their final three games.
Around the rest of the SEC, the Georgia Bulldogs still hold the top spot. They're win over Ole Miss vaulted them to No. 1 combined with a Miami loss. The Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas Longhorns, and Tennessee Vols
are all inside the top ten as well. In total, eight teams from the conference are ranked, and two more received votes.
Overall, it was a tough week for Kentucky, but the smaller drop in the rankings shows that voters still respect what Will Stein and his squad have done this year. They have three more big games remaining. Win them, and they're probably still in the playoff.
