The Kentucky volleyball team and coach Craig Skinner entered another big SEC matchup on Friday night, this time on the road against the Auburn Tigers. With Morgan Gaerte still out, Brooklyn DeLeye led the Wildcats to a fifth straight win, taking it 3-1 (25-16, 25-17, 23-25, 25-17).
For most of the match, Kentucky dominated. They were especially good on the defensive end, and held Auburn to a .180 hit percentage overall. The Tigers did play well in the third set, but it was all Wildcats otherwise.
DeLeye had 22 kills to pace Kentucky, but Asia Thigpen and Georgia Watson were both very good with 14 kills apiece. Lizzie Carr added 9 of her own to go with 2 blocks. Kennedy Washington had 4. Kassie O'Brien recorded 49 assists and 15 digs.
Kentucky is
now 11-2 on the season, and remain unbeaten in conference play. Next up is a big matchup against the No. 7 Florida Gators. That match will be played on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 8:30 P.M. ET.
