Coach Will Stein and the Kentucky football team have put together a very good 2027 recruiting class. It's led by elite quarterback Jake Nawrot, but has multiple highly-rated prospects, including safety Tristin Hughes.
Hughes is a 5'11", 190 lb safety out of Ohio who committed to the Wildcats earlier this summer. He is rated four stars by 247Sports and ranks as their No. 247 overall player in the 2027 class. He chose Kentucky over Virginia Tech, Louisville, and several Big Ten and SEC teams who offered him.
Even though Kentucky got the commitment from Hughes, it hasn't stopped teams from staying in contact, including Louisville, who has been working to flip him. It was announced last week, in fact, that he would be taking a visit to Louisville over
the weekend. However, Kentucky Sports Radio reported on Sunday that Hughes didn't make the trip.
It's great news for the Wildcats about a player they really see as a key recruit. However, it should be noted that Louisville is sure to try and schedule him for a visit at another time, and that he is still able to flip his commitment in the future.
