Freshman Kyla Dawn has made her presence felt early in the 2026 Kentucky Wildcats women's basketball season. Just three days after scoring her first career goal, she came up big again in a win over Dayton that advanced the Cats to 3-0 on the year.
It didn't take long for Dawn to get Kentucky on the board. She put the Cats up 1-0 with a goal in the fifth minute of the match. Just ten minutes later, she struck again, this time unassisted.
Kentucky led 3-0 at the halfway point, and continued to add to the lead in the second half. Juliette Rayo made it 4-0, and it would be 5-0 when the final seconds of the match passed. It was the Wildcats' third win, and they've out-scored their opponents 16-2.
Dawn led the way for Kentucky with her two goals. Rayo,
Kendall Campbell, and Sydney Arendarczyk had one apiece. Alexis Tylenda and Katherine Truitt each had an assist. Megan Holland had two saves in goal.
The Wildcats will head back out on the road in their next match, heading to Columbus to take on Ohio State. They'll meet on Aug. 27 at 7:00 P.M. ET.
