The NFL has one week to make a Sunday Night Football flex decision for a game involving the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers.
The Broncos (4-2) are set to travel to Charlotte in Week 9 to face the Panthers (3-2) on Sunday, Nov. 8. That game is currently scheduled for 11:00 a.m. MT (1:00 p.m. ET). The game currently slated for SNF features the Chicago Bears (4-2) hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
(1-5).The NFL might want to keep the Bears in primetime, but the lowly Bucs could still be missing Baker Mayfield, making that matchup less appealing to a national audience. And even if Mayfield does return, NBC surely wouldn't prefer to feature a struggling team in their SNF window.
As the Denver Gazette's Chris Tomasson noted on Twitter/X earlier
this week, the NFL makes SNF flex decisions "no later than 12 days in advance of the game." For the Broncos-Panthers matchup, that makes the deadline for a potential flex Tuesday, Oct. 27.
It wouldn't be surprising to see the NFL wait until after Sunday's games before making a decision. Denver will face the Arizona Cardinals (2-4) and Carolina will take on the Bucs. The Bears will play the New England Patriots (4-2) on Thursday.
