Former Denver Broncos outside linebackers DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller were recently voted as the greatest pass-rushing duo for a season in NFL history by Pro Football Focus.
PFF's Bradley Locker referenced the Broncos' Super Bowl-winning 2015 season in which the duo racked up 28 combined sacks and 171 pressures as they terrorized opposing offenses.
“Any discussion of the top pass-rushing teammates ever has to start with Miller and Ware. The two were both unstoppable in 2015 to help propel the Broncos’ legendary, title-winning defense," Locker wrote for PFF.
"Indeed, Miller ranked first in pass-rush win rate while leading the league with 105 pressures, while Ware sat third in the metric and notched 66 pressures himself. All told, both Miller and Ware placed
in the top five in PFF pass-rush grade for all qualified defensive linemen, and they combined for 171 pressures and 28 sacks. There’s a reason Ware is already enshrined in the Hall of Fame, and Miller will be not long after he eventually retires.”
The duo helped lead one of the best defenses of all time while helping Peyton Manning win his second Super Bowl. After Miller joined the Dallas Cowboys this offseason, he teased DeMarcus Ware coming out of retirement to team up with him again. Ware, 44, isn't coming out of retirement, but he and Miller will be remembered as one of the best pass-rush duos in NFL history from their time with the Broncos.
