Denver Broncos outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper is set to return to Douglas County Court on Monday for a newly scheduled motions hearing, according to the Denver Post's Parker Gabriel.
Cooper is facing multiple charges, including a felony assault charge, related to two arrests following incidents with his former girlfriend in June. The pass rusher pleaded not guilty to all charges in August, but he was still placed on the NFL's commissioner’s exempt list while the league waits for his legal situation to be resolved.
Cooper has a trial by jury scheduled for Nov. 10, 12 and 13. It remains to be seen if Monday's motions hearing might change the status of Cooper's case.
While on the exempt list, Cooper is not eligible to practice or play in games.
Denver's defense has been leaning on Nik Bonitto, Jonah Elliss, Que Robinson and Dondrea Tillman in Cooper's absence. Without him, the Broncos have totaled eight sacks through the first four games of the season.
