The Denver Broncos aren't bringing in free agent tight end/do-everything-weapon Taysom Hill, at least not at the moment.
Broncos coach Sean Payton indicated last month that Denver would explore adding Hill, and the coach spoke with him at the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony for Drew Brees last month. However, no move is imminent.
"No updates, nothing," Payton said when asked about Hill after Wednesday's practice. "I would let you know if we had anything. I talked to him at the Hall of Fame [enshrinement ceremony], but not — it was really just with a group of people. Nothing new there."
Denver's going into the regular season with Evan Engram, Adam Trautman, Nate Adkins and rookie Dallen Bentley as the four tight ends on their active
roster. The Broncos also have Lucas Krull available on the practice squad.
Speaking of the practice squad, Denver added three receivers following roster cuts, but they did not bring back undrafted rookie wide receiver/returner Cam Ross. After not receiving a practice squad offer from the Broncos, Ross is now set to work out for the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday, according to the Denver Gazette's Chris Tomasson.
The Broncos, of course, are preparing to face the Chiefs on Monday Night Football in Week 1 (Sept. 14).
