The Denver Broncos took a calculated approach this offseason to keep as many players from last season's roster as possible. But it was widely agreed that the team's biggest loss this offseason was that of defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers, who signed a free-agent contract with the Tennessee Titans.
It seemed to become clear last season that the Broncos would not be able to afford to keep Franklin-Myers around, and he was rewarded with a three-year, $63 million deal in Tennessee. Franklin-Myers made his debut with the Titans this past Sunday against the New York Jets and had a small impact on the game in the Titans' defeat.
Franklin-Myers played 40 snaps (60%), the third-most on Tennessee’s defensive line behind Jeffery Simmons, who had 50,
and Jermaine Johnson, who had 41. Franklin-Myers finished the game with three tackles but was unable to come up with a sack.
It does seem clear that the Titans intend for him to be a big part of their defense this season.
Speaking of former Broncos, what about Dre Greenlaw? The Broncos released the oft-injured linebacker this offseason in a move that was seen as a bit controversial and Greenlaw went back to his former team, the San Francisco 49ers. He was able to slide right back into the lineup and looked like he hadn't missed a beat against the Los Angeles Rams.
Greenlaw had six tackles in the game and, along with Fred Warner, looked ready to be one of the best inside linebacker duos in football. The Greenlaw departure might turn out to be an even bigger loss than JFM in 2026.
