After an ugly 31-10 road loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1, the Denver Broncos are now set to host the Jacksonville Jaguars at Empower Field at Mile High in Week 2.
The Broncos will look to bounce back from last week's performance, and with a tough schedule ahead, the team can't afford to drop a winnable game at home. Here are five quick storylines we'll be watching for going into the game.
1. Davis Webb and Denver's offense: Webb made his regular-season play-calling debut last week, and it was ugly. The Broncos' offense struggled throughout the night and while not all of the blame falls on Webb, he had a concerning debut. The first-year play-caller will look to bounce back on Sunday.
2. Broncos' tackling: Vance Joseph's defense missed tackles
at a historic rate against the Chiefs, failing to wrap up ball carriers and allowing 248 missed tackle yards. Fortunately, tackling is a skill that can be taught and corrected. Expect the unit to put on a better performance after last week's ugly effort.
3. Defending Parker Washington: When Denver and Jacksonville faced off last December, Jags wide receiver Parker Washington hauled in six receptions for 145 yards and a touchdown. Pat Surtain primarily focused on Brian Thomas (two catches for 18 yards), and Washington proved to be a mismatch for the Broncos' other defensive backs. Will the defense take a different approach on Sunday?
4. Denver's run defense: Going back to the 2025 playoffs, the Broncos have allowed an average of 181 rushing yards in their last three games, which is a troubling trend. Jacksonville, meanwhile, rushed for 126 yards in a Week 1 win over the Cleveland Browns. The Jags seem to be more pass-oriented than the 2026 Chiefs, so that could help, but Denver's run defense is still a concern going into the game.
5. Broncos QB Bo Nix bouncing back: In his first game back from January's broken ankle, Nix didn't look like his normal self. Through his first two seasons in the NFL, Nix excelled at avoiding sacks and fumbles. But he was sacked four times and fumbled three times against Kansas City. If Denver's going to beat Jacksonville on Sunday, Nix needs to have a bounce-back performance.
Sunday's game (2:05 p.m. MT) will be regionally televised on CBS (view the TV broadcast map). The Broncos are considered a home favorite going into Week 2.
