The Kansas City Chiefs will be missing their starting left tackle when they host the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football in Week 1.
The Chiefs have ruled out Josh Simmons, who is sidelined with a back injury. Kansas City is now poised to start undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson on Monday.
So quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be making his return from last season's ACL/LCL injury with a UDFA protecting his blindside against a Broncos defense that led the NFL in sacks in each of the last two seasons. Benson will likely be matched up against Denver pass rusher Nik Bonitto, who has totaled 27.5 sacks since 2024.
As for the Broncos, they are in good health going into MNF. Denver wide receiver/returner Marvin Mims (foot) is the team's only player on the active
roster to appear on the injury report this week, but he has been cleared to play after fully participating in practice.
