This week, Graham Bensinger released his interview with Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald on his YouTube channel and Patreon page. In a video from the original interview that a fan posted on Twitter/X, Macdonald revealed that Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton accused the Seahawks of cheating during the 2024 NFL season.
(The video has since been edited to no longer include that conversation, and Macdonald said Wednesday he did not think that part of the conversation would be made public).
The Seahawks had compiled about 100 plays from Broncos training camp that fans had posted on Twitter/X that summer. When Payton learned that Seattle had clips from practice, he called general manager John Schneider and accused Seattle of cheating, according
to Macdonald.
"He basically like threatened to come out publicly, do it like a whole Patriot, Spygate type of thing ... He thought it was a Michigan thing where we had a plant and the whole thing," Macdonald told Bensinger.
Following practice on Wednesday, Payton was asked about that interview and his 2024 conversation with Schneider. This was the coach's response:

Payton had an extremely diplomatic response, and he said he has a "ton of respect" for Macdonald. Meanwhile, Macdonald apologized to Payton after his hot mic comments were made public on Tuesday.
Seattle defeated the Broncos 26-20 in their season opener in 2024, and it's likely no coincidence that Denver's security has been much stricter about enforcing its no-phone policy for fans at training camp over the last two summers.
The Broncos will host the Seahawks on Thursday Night Football in Week 6 on Oct. 15.
